Wolverhampton young people celebrate pioneering House Project’s anniversary

Young people who have been part of the Wolverhampton House Project joined staff and their peers from across the country to celebrate The National House Project’s fifth anniversary recently. The Wolverhampton House Project, a partnership between the City of Wolverhampton Council, The National House Project, Wolverhampton Homes and commercial partner Reconomy, was launched in 2019.

NHP appoints Jamie Roberts to Board of Trustees

NHP is delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Roberts as a Trustee, joining the six-member strong Board of Trustees and a wider team of supporting staff. NHP is a progressive and innovative charity, set up in 2018 to help address the unjust and poor outcomes many young people face after leaving the care system without the necessary support and guidance. Working with local councils and businesses, NHP runs multiple projects for young care leavers across the UK to help develop a sense of community, fulfilment, and interdependence.

A message from our CEO July 2023

7th July 2023

When NHP was incorporated as a charity 5 years ago next month we were a merry band of three who had just moved out of our respective kitchens (that were doubling as offices!) with budget for a further 18 months. Next month we celebrate our 5th birthday and we marked the occasion at a party last week at Freight Island in Manchester.  It was a fantastic event in the glorious Mancunian sunshine and was enjoyed by 200 young people, staff, consultants, partners and fundraisers from across the UK.

500 young people living in their own homes

500 young people leaving care from LHPs across the UK have been supported to move into their first home and are living 'connected and fulfilling’ lives. It may have taken 7 years to support the first 500 young people into their first home, but we are expecting the next 500 young people to move in to their own homes by August 2026!

Staff experiences of working with unaccompanied asylum seeking young people

Staff experiences of working with unaccompanied asylum seeking young people within a trauma-informed framework at the National House Project: An Exploratory Qualitative Study. This small-scale study was carried out by Royal Hollaway University between November 2023 and January 2024. Semi-structured interviews with ten staff members from NHP and LHP’s were undertaken and explored their experiences of using a trauma informed practice framework to support asylum seeking young people.
